About Me
Hello, my name is Kelly Jones and I’d like to welcome you to my ePortfolio website. Just a little bit of background on me, currently I an pursing my doctorate in Developmental Education Administration at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). I earned my Master of Science in Learning Technologies with a focus in Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) as well as my undergraduate degree in Applied Technology and Performance Improvement from the University of North Texas (UNT).
As a nontraditional student I am passionate about helping other adult students achieve their dreams of earning a college degree, which is what led me to pursuing my doctoral degree at SHSU. Through my rigorous studies at UNT I have learned the skills of html web design, instructional design, and application-based website building. In addition to my technology skills, I’ve also been able to enhance my skills in formal academic research and writing, and developed an understanding of pedagogical approaches as they pertain to online learning. The time I’ve spent in the graduate Learning Technologies program as well as my personal experience as a non-traditional student has led me to changing the direction of my career path from business to higher education, focusing on administrative services. My goal is to utilize the knowledge and skills that I’ve gained to assist students who require additional administrative support in order to achieve their academic dreams.
